Second Week in France

It is now my second week in France. It is all very new still but I have gotten used to moving around town and my school and surrounding area.

I started work at my Lycee already. I am working with 6 other teachers. I teach 12 hours a week and they are all very nice. The kids are amazing, they are very friendly and after my amazing introductions some of them are clamoring to talk to me in the hallways. Basically my work is very simple, take 1/2 the class (usually about 10 students) and do whatever I want with them. This first week I have been doing introductions and 2 truth and 1 lie and it has worked well.

My roommates are amazing as well. Noe the 15 year old is away this week cause he works in the town 3 weeks at a time and then goes back home for 1 week to study. Emily and I and Anna (a British assistant in a town close to ours) have been hanging out a lot and had a cookie + CAF (the housing subsidy form) party at our place last weekend. So CAF is a french housing allowance and since we don't make that much money we can get some money back from the government. I did an estimate and it seems I will be able to get back around 170 Euros a month. I pay 340 Euros a month in total. So it would make my rent about 170 Euros / month! Awesome!

Also one of the temporary guests at our apartment is moving out this Thursday and so i think I will be moving my room to his. Which has a bigger bed and a better side facing east for more sunlight in my room!

I started to run and do push ups since I got here. Today it was gloomy and overcast but since I finished early I took a nap and went for a run in the afternoon and checked out some more of the sights of my small town. I live on an incline about the middle of the way to the very top of a hill. As I ran up the hill though it seems there are some really nice houses and mansions up there. So I took some pictures. I think my routine for this year will be to focus on getting back into shape and do pushups at home.

Amazon france has been a big help in my move so far. I have been ordering lots of things from them and since I signed up for Amazon prime I am getting free expediated shipping for this month. So I have been just using it non stop. I got some handlebar tape for my bike, a rain jacket, locks and varios tools for my bike and of course a mobile boombox for when I got traveling this October and winter.

So that is the other good new, there is a two weeks vacation coming up and I will be using this time to check out the surrounding region. And soon after there will be a Christmas break, So there's lots of exciting things to look forward to. I have been in contact with some of the friends i met on the plane and will probably crash at their place when I go visit.

Should not have worn the hat and rain coat it was way too hot.

Theres a big hill on one side of the city.

My apartment is to the left of this obstructed by some bushes

Peace from Guebwiller.
