The roads over were generally great and I had nothing to complain about. The only thing that caused me to worry was the 2km of gravel riverbank that was unavoidable. Luckily my trusty Peugeot held out and I got to Montpellier without a flat.
I fell immediately in love with Montpellier. It is a amazing city with large well maintained streets and wonderful bike paths. It is also very very clean and calm.
My couchsurfer Julien had been sleeping when I arrived so I couldn't reach him. So I walked around old town by myself and encountered a street theatre show. I taged along and got a tour of the city with characters acting out the various highlights of the city. Apparantly Notradamus lived in Montpellier!
In the evening I met up with Julien a 23 year old Bohemian student and his two other couchsurfers: Anna and Agatha from Poland. The two girls are hitchiking from Spain to Italy. They had just come from Peripgnan (my next next destination), and they are going to Marseilles. So we helped each other in contacting our previous CS hosts to see if we can stay with them.
In the evening we went for a tour with Julien and came back to chill out at his place listening to music.
Passed by a ferrari road block. A line of ferraris parading through at 5km/hour while I zoom past in my Peugeot and Ferrari hat haha! |

Peace from Montpellier.
