Awadori is one of the biggest summer festivals in Japan. For 4 nights straight different dance teams take to the streets and dance the night away.
We couldn't get actual accommodations for the nights of the festival so instead we went back to Takamatsu to pick up Adam's tent and camped for the two days we were there.
As we arrived in Tokushima we scouted out the perfect location to pitch our tent - the tennis court! Unfortunately on the second night they actually locked the court and we had to tent on top of the roof instead. The sleeping arrangements made the issue of hygiene very salient. Luckily we found Onsens close by and pretty much hung out there during the day time to rest up our bodies
As for the festival itself. We actually got to dance on a team. The Tokushima International Association had a dance team and provided the Hapis - the traditional Japanese dance garment for us. We also made full use of the Hapis on the second day and joined in the festivities and finished off the night by singing at an international karaoke bar.
We finally left Tokushima today and arrived in Kyoto via the bus. It was a really good sleep.
We camped onto of this tennis courts roof top for 2 nights. |
Peace from Tokushima.
