When in Rome....

Eat all the Gelatos! OMG I have never eaten so much Gelato in such a short amount of time. There was a small Gelato shop next to my hostel and I have been slowly building an addiction since I arrived. My favourite flavour has been Pistachio and Marron nuts. And the best shop is this tiny Gelato place next to Vatican city called Old Bridge Gelatos - apparently its where the Pope's guest go to have Gelatos. So you can't go wrong with recommendations like that!

Ok that is not all I did in Rome. I checked out the Vatican, the Sisteen Chapel, the Colosseum, the Spanish steps, the Trevi fountain, the Pantheon, St. Peter's Basilica etc. Even though it sounds like a lot there are so many things to see here. I pretty much did everything I knew was important to me on my list. But you can honestly spend a week here and still not see everything.

Oh and I also saw the pope! How cool is that! It was a Monday and I guess he was delivering his weekly Papal address? The square was packed and there were also a parade before and after with people dressed up and in fancy costumes.

It was raining when I arrived

The inside is not what I expected at all. The actual scene you imagined with sands and stuff is only the ground floor. They have a section of that reconstructed on the top side. That is also where the word arena derives from it means sand in latin. The basement where they housed the gladiators and various animals could be lowered at will through trap doors.

Michael Angelo's Sistine chapel. This was actually really worth the hype. 10/10 would drop mouth on the floor again. Also it is forbidden to take pictures there. I actually got screamed at for this. So enjoy!

Pantheon. It was free to go in cause it is now a church. I kind of wish they would have kept the old Pagan stuff cause that is what it was originally designed for.

The Trevi fountain - the most famous fountain in the world.

Peace from my last night in Rome.
