I have finally decided to start a blog after procrastinating for 9 month in Korea. But since this is a big trip I thought it would be a good idea to write things down for later generations blah blah blah.
So Wonseop, David (two of the volunteer teachers at saturday Korean class) and I decided to go on a bike trip to Seoul from Busan. There is a newly built trail in 2011 that runs directly across the two cities.
We packed our bags and were on our way today August 10th at 8am, which also happened to be my birthday.
We need to bike around 70km a day to reach our target of 7 days to arrive at Seoul. This is not easy but it shouldn't be hard either because I have been training for the past week biking about 30-40km per day to go to the beach.
I bought a new bike specifically for this trip. And pimped her our with lights back rack and water bottle holder.
First problem of the day. Getting on the subway since its rush hour and we decided to leave busan early. After many failed attempts at getting all three bikes together. We just decided to go on one at a time.
The trail starts on the western tip of the city at a subway station called Hadan.
The really cool thing is the Korean government is trying to promote trips like this by setting up a bike passport program. And you can get a passport for $3 and stamps it at certain cities you pass through.
As I write this I am waiting for my two friends at Hadan station. More post to come when I finish the first day.
